The climate of the area is regarded as warm temperate. Mid-summer daily maximum temperatures range between 15º-32ºC with the winter between 5º-18ºC. However, temperatures below 0ºC and above 40ºC are not uncommon.

Major rainfall is most common during autumn and spring with the winter months being the driest.The type of rainfall varies between the soft continual rain associated with cold fronts sweeping up the coast, and typical summer rainfall thunderstorms with occasionlly hail. Frost and light snow can be expected in most years.

Strong winds are a featue of the area in August and September.
